Every year, Women’s Day is a date to remember the search for more respect and appreciation for the history of women’s struggle.
This Wednesday (8), Lotus held a special lunch to honor its employees, women who are present in the day-to-day of the company that employs 40 workers.
According to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), women have been breaking down barriers and overcoming difficulties in the construction industry. Between 2007 and 2018, there was a 120% increase in the number of women in the sector, showing a break in standards and a new feminine perspective in this area of work that, until then, was occupied mainly by men.
According to the CEO of the real estate and construction company, Luiz Felipe Hernandez, the strength of women is also a hallmark of the company. “Since its founding, Lotus has made a point of bringing women into the team. The determination, sensitivity and dedication of women are substantially reflected in our results,” he guarantees. “Furthermore, my brother and I were raised by a strong, warrior mother who always taught us about the true value of women,” added Luiz Hernandez.
Women who hold positions in the construction industry have a career marked by countless challenges and achievements. At Lotus, women are present in various sectors. They are field workers, engineers, architects, sales representatives, financial representatives, brokers, assistants and helpers.
“They are, naturally, very committed and detail-oriented, with a critical, delicate and respectful eye, and they are always focused. With countless virtues, they have stood out for their unique competence in the services they provide,” says Ruy Hernandez, also CEO of Lotus. “Our mother is our greatest inspiration and role model,” he added.

In addition to lunch, Lotus hosted a chat between the company’s employees and two great female leaders. To share some of their life and professional experiences, Ruy Hernandez and Luiz Felipe Hernandez invited lawyer Fernanda Hernandez, founding partner of Advocacia Fernanda Hernandez, and Ani Sanders, founder of Grupo Progresso.
Lawyer Fernanda Hernandez shared with the audience her personal journey and her challenges and achievements in the world of law. “Women’s working conditions have evolved a lot in the last 100 years. They have improved, but there is still a lot to be achieved. We face prejudice and great obstacles, but that has never stopped us from shining and achieving the career we dream of, responsible motherhood and the achievement of great goals,” emphasized Fernanda Hernandez.
Ani Sanders, who has been working in agribusiness for 45 years, shared with Lotus employees the great challenge of being a woman and working in a segment that is almost 100 percent male. “I have always faced life head on. I am a woman, wife, mother and entrepreneur. I have made happiness my life goal and, to achieve it, I try to give my best every day, with a lot of faith, serious work, thinking about results and very concerned about others,” said the founder of Grupo Progresso, emphasizing that agribusiness “has a lot of space for women and they need to be aware of this.”
