Culture: Lotus Promotes Exhibition of Paintings and Photos by Brasília Artists

Internationally recognized, the paintings by Daniel Toys, Omik, and Atoismo shared wall space at Casa Lotus with photos by Maicon Oliveira, Daniel Oliveira, and João Pontes in an exclusive exhibition in the Noroeste district of Brasília.

The Federal District portrayed in an unusual way through graffiti and photographs by artists born in the city. In an exclusive exhibition, the graffiti art of Daniel Toys, Omik, and Atoismo shared space with the attentive gaze captured through the lenses of photographers Maicon Oliveira, Daniel Oliveira, and João Pontes. Titled “Fora de Casa” (“Away from Home”), the exhibition was promoted by the “Casa de Rua” studio, located in the Noroeste district, at Casa Lotus, in Brasília.

At the opening of the space, the exhibitors gathered with friends and guests to present their artwork. World-renowned for his graffiti art, Daniel Toys believes the initiative supports the movement. “The exhibition brings together six great friends who share the same studio and the same dreams, and this is a summary of that. Each one has their own universe, their own creative world, but the collective is better than the individual,” says Toys. Omik also emphasized the importance of Brazilian representation in the works. “Brazil is a mix of people. It’s a very broad place. A very strong culture, very mother-like, that embraces people,” said the artist. Photographer João Pontes, who also attended the opening event, spoke about the inspiration behind his images. “Spontaneity is the best moment in a photo. Capturing an everyday scene that most of us overlook,” says João.

Luiz Felipe Hernandez, co-founder of Lotus, shared that the initiative was born out of the company’s cultural awareness. “A city needs to recognize the importance of the artists born and raised in it. Opening this space is an honor for us. Lotus always designs its projects with a modern architecture that also reflects the features of the nation’s capital. So this kind of action is fully aligned with who we are,” says Luiz. “This initiative is one of Lotus’s trademarks. Culture is the identity of a nation, so there’s nothing better than representing that in our spaces,” adds Ruy Hernandez, also a co-founder of Lotus.

The “Fora de Casa” exhibition was open for visitation at Casa Lotus, located in the Noroeste district, from October 8 to 29.
