Lotus Holds 3rd Edition of the “Lotus in Motion” Program with a Focus on Employees’ Mental Health

In line with World Mental Health Day, observed on October 10, the Lotus Institute — the social branch of the construction company Lotus — held the 3rd edition of the “Lotus in Motion” program, an initiative dedicated to promoting employees’ emotional and physical well-being.

The event took place at Casa Adhara, a wellness and support space located in Lago Sul, Brasília, and brought together employees from various departments of the company, reinforcing Lotus’s commitment to creating environments that prioritize mental health in the workplace.

“I had never practiced yoga before and was surprised by how much the activity helped me slow down and manage my anxiety. It was a moment of pause that made a real difference in my daily routine,” said Luzeomar Rosa, a Lotus purchasing department employee. This edition focused on activities that encourage mindfulness — essential for slowing down, managing anxiety, and improving the mind–body connection. The main activity was a Vinyasa Yoga class, a dynamic style that combines fluid sequences of postures with conscious breathing, creating a continuous flow that fosters concentration, emotional balance, and well-being.

The theme of this edition is particularly relevant in light of the alarming rise in anxiety cases across the country. Brazil is facing a true mental health crisis, directly impacting workers’ lives and companies’ productivity. Exclusive data from the Ministry of Social Security shows that, in 2024, nearly half a million people took sick leave due to mental health issues — the highest number recorded in at least a decade.

“Following Yellow September, we recognized the importance of keeping the conversation about mental health alive. We believe that physical activity is a key ally in tackling anxiety and depression, while also helping employees find moments of pause and presence in their daily lives,” emphasized Ruy Hernandez, co-CEO of Lotus.

By encouraging practices that require presence in the moment, such as yoga, Lotus reinforces the importance of initiatives that slow down the pace of everyday life, balance emotions, and strengthen mental health care — an essential pillar for well-being in the workplace.
