Lotus Prime earns LEED Gold certification

The Lotus Prime development, built by the Brasília-based construction and development company Lotus, has been awarded the LEED Gold certification. This prestigious certification for sustainable buildings is granted by the non-governmental organization U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), with the goal of promoting and encouraging sustainable construction practices that meet green building standards.

Lotus Prime is a “AAA” corporate development by Lotus, carrying both the LEED Gold certification and the PBE Edifica Label, level A (Procel seal). These certifications are recognized for promoting the design and construction of sustainable buildings with high energy performance.

Through design, construction, and operational practices that enhance both environmental and human health, LEED-certified buildings help create a more sustainable world.
“Sustainability is one of our core pillars, and we are proud to be part of this select group of innovative buildings with LEED Gold certification,” celebrates Luiz Felipe Hernandez, one of Lotus’ CEOs.

The U.S. Green Building Council affirms that green buildings allow companies to operate more sustainably while offering healthier and more comfortable environments for occupants.

“The work of innovative construction projects like Lotus Prime is a key driving force in transforming the way our buildings are constructed, designed, and operated,” says Peter Templeton, President and CEO of the USGBC.

Landmark buildings such as the Empire State Building in New York City and the Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower) in Chicago are also examples of properties recognized with the LEED Gold seal.

Recognition

“The project undergoes a thorough process to obtain this certification. We pursued it, met all the requirements, and had our efforts recognized with the LEED Gold award. It’s yet another demonstration that Lotus is on the right path by prioritizing sustainable construction,” says Ruy Hernandez, CEO of Lotus.

The construction and development company is the first in Brazil’s capital to be 100% committed to best practices, not only in terms of environmental responsibility, but also in social, safety, and governance matters—grouped under the English acronym ESG – Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance.
