Lotus strengthens social initiative and benefits around 250 children and teenagers in Brazlândia

Reinforcing its social commitment and close engagement with communities in the Federal District, the Lotus Institute — the social arm of Lotus — donated 240 tatami mats to the Jiu-Jitsu de Primeira Project, a social initiative created in 2011 and recognized for promoting inclusion, discipline, and human development through sports in Brazlândia (DF).

The action addresses an essential structural need of the project, whose previous mat — in use for over 10 years — presented limitations in both space and safety. With the new structure, made of high-density EVA tiles, the training area will be expanded to 238 m², ensuring greater comfort, safety, and the possibility of growing the number of classes.

Today, the project benefits approximately 250 students between the ages of 4 and 17, a group composed mostly of children and adolescents. The new tatami will not only improve training quality, but also allow the initiative to increase the number of participants served.

Created by Professor Ulisses Costa Dias, a sub-lieutenant of the Federal District Military Police and a 3rd-degree black belt, Jiu-Jitsu de Primeira has become a volunteer-run space for sports training and citizenship. Its activities are supported by the First Baptist Church of Brazlândia, the 16th Battalion PMDF Association, and the Mãos Solidárias Institute.

“We are very happy with Lotus’ support for this project. It shows that the company pays close attention to the needs of the community. Initiatives like this gradually transform the lives of these young people,” says Ulisses.

The project was introduced by Fernando Aquino, a Jiu-Jitsu practitioner who was aware of co-CEO Luiz Felipe Hernandez’s connection with the sport. Lotus’ support emerged organically: upon learning about the project’s impact and relevance to the community, the company immediately embraced the cause, investing in the acquisition of the mats.

“This project represents exactly the kind of positive impact we believe is possible when companies and communities move forward together. Jiu-Jitsu changes lives, promotes discipline, and creates opportunities — values that are fully aligned with Lotus’ essence. For us, it is an honor to help even more children and young people gain access to this safe and inspiring environment,” says Luiz Felipe Hernandez, co-CEO of Lotus.

This initiative is part of the company’s 2025 cycle of social actions, a year considered to be marked by strong engagement with both internal and external causes. For 2026, Lotus is already preparing a plan focused on high-impact initiatives and community strengthening.

With this action, Lotus reaffirms its future-driven vision, integrated with the development of the regions where it operates — always focused on transforming realities, strengthening bonds, and expanding opportunities.
