Lotus Tower construction site welcomes Civil Engineering students from UnB

The Lotus Tower construction site opened its doors last Saturday (16) for an exclusive technical visit by 20 students from the Concrete Structures course in the Civil Engineering program at the University of Brasília (UnB).

The group was led by the institution’s professor, Marcos Honorato, a researcher and specialist in Reinforced and Prestressed Concrete Structures. The initiative aimed to connect the theoretical learning acquired in academia with the practical reality of highly complex engineering.

During the visit, students had the opportunity to closely observe innovative engineering solutions that ensure the project’s efficiency and sustainability.

Among the main highlights presented by the technical team were the materials used to execute different slab typologies and, in particular, the application of so-called flying tables (aerial formwork systems). The team also introduced Welded Prefabricated Reinforcement (APS), a key technology used to optimize the slab concreting cycle, in addition to showcasing the high standards of site organization and the coordination of work teams.

“In the classroom, we discuss in depth the theory behind reinforced and prestressed concrete structures, but it is in the field, observing the application of technologies up close, that students are able to connect theory with practice — and that is essential for consolidating learning,” explained Marcos Honorato.

For César Leandro de Araújo, the engineer responsible for the Lotus Tower project, the exchange between the company and the university is a strategic pillar. “It is extremely important to support these visits, as today’s students may become Lotus’s future engineers and partners tomorrow,” he emphasized.

By bringing together innovation, construction excellence, and the social responsibility DNA promoted by the developer, the initiative reinforces Lotus’s role in inspiring new talent and paving the way for the future of civil engineering and urban development in the city.
