Daily monitoring, lectures, and the purchase of modern safety equipment are the strategies Lotus invests in to ensure employee health and achieve zero accidents in civil construction.
Each day, technology becomes a stronger ally in civil construction. Modern equipment and increasingly resistant, versatile, and sustainable materials have helped shorten deadlines while delivering high-quality finishes to major projects. But this evolution goes beyond the way buildings are erected. It also focuses on the safety of those working on construction sites. Aware of this importance, construction and development company Lotus has increasingly implemented actions to ensure the protection and well-being of everyone involved in its projects.
Among the main causes of accidents in civil construction is negligence with safety equipment. For this reason, Lotus adopted the **“Weekly Safety Dialogue”** project, in which Health and Occupational Safety professionals give lectures on risks at construction sites and reinforce existing regulations. “Lotus has been seeking new alternatives and strategies to mitigate the risks of accidents on construction sites and to provide a healthy and safe work environment for its employees,” explains Lotus CEO, **Luiz Felipe Hernandez**.
Lotus has also increased its investment in both **personal protective equipment (PPE)** and **collective protective equipment (CPE)**. This includes the purchase of safety helmets, protective goggles, gloves, safety harnesses, masks, hearing protection, and safety boots, as well as safety nets, lifelines, safety signage (such as warning signs and striped tape), fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, emergency showers, exhaust systems, and first aid kits. Every day, a team visits construction sites to alert workers about the proper use of equipment, evaluate the environment, and reinforce the importance of clear signage in risk areas. “Our concern and care for our human capital has always been a priority, and we found an approach that works very well through daily motivation and awareness for our teams,” explains **Weslley Junqueira**, Occupational Safety Engineer at Lotus.
At Lotus, before even signing a work contract, employees undergo full safety training on electrical installations and services, material transport and handling, machinery and equipment, ergonomics, safety signage, and more.
These effective measures have practically eliminated workplace accidents on Lotus construction sites — and even earned **international recognition**. In July this year, the company received the **Great Place to Work Brazil** certification, marking it as an **Excellent Place to Work**. “Lotus was recognized based on employee feedback and company practices, and it made the **2021 Ranking of Best Companies to Work For**. This recognition is extremely meaningful to us, as we’ve always operated with respect, integrity, transparency, and sustainability,” concludes Hernandez.
