Blue November: Real estate developer launches campaign for employees about prostate cancer
Event, next Tuesday (16), will talk about care, diagnosis and prevention of the disease
November is a month of alert for men in Brazil and the Blue November campaign for prostate cancer care and prevention has already reached the construction industry. According to data from the Ministry of Labor and Employment, 90% of the workers in the sector are male.
Next Tuesday (16), Casa Lotus will hold a lecture for around 200 employees on the importance of taking care of men’s health.
The chats will be held at two Lotus construction sites in the Northwest and will be led by Gabriela da Silva Vieira, who has a degree in Social Work and a master’s degree in Social Policy from the University of Brasilia (UnB).
“Lotus wants to highlight the importance of Blue November, a global campaign that is carried out in 21 countries simultaneously. We want to raise awareness about men’s health care among our employees, a subject that is often taboo and shouldn’t be,” explains Ruy Hernandez, owner of Lotus.
Lotus civil and safety engineer Weslley Ribeiro Junqueira, who is responsible for carrying out the action at the company, explains that it is necessary to give full attention to employee health. “Information campaigns like this help raise employee awareness, clarify doubts about disease prevention and treatment, and ensure each employee’s ability to work,” emphasizes the engineer, recalling that “a sick employee is greatly missed in teamwork. A complete, healthy, and cohesive group brings more strength and competitiveness to the company.”
Constant awareness
This is not the first time that the developer has carried out awareness-raising projects for its employees. On October 19, Lotus held a day of awareness and self-care for women in the construction industry.
The event celebrated the importance of women in the team and discussed breast cancer prevention during the month of the fight against the disease.
Also in October, the company held a lecture with HR/Business consultant and Dale Carnegie Trainer, Daniela Mamede. The focus was on raising awareness among leaders, with the theme: “The human side of leadership in change, self-awareness and emotional intelligence”.
“Our human capital is one of the pillars that sets us apart. And we are concerned about each of our employees on a daily basis. Worker health and safety will always be issues at our company”, adds the other owner of Lotus, Luiz Felipe Hernandez.
